Golembiewski's PhD was titled "There’s something in my head (but it’s not me). The complex relationship between the built environment and schizophrenia – from aetiology to recovery." He has delivered 21 research papers and articles, for which he has received a dozen awards.

Golembiewski's research area is translational - meaning it takes from one discipline to apply to another - the result is that his research is very broad - looking into architecture, urban design, psychology, media and medicine.

He is a chair of the 2013 International Academy Awards for Health and Design.
